Psychology (Sensation & Perception), Tenure-Track Faculty
The Department of Psychology at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#120420) at the assistant/associate professor rank in Sensation and Perception. The start date for this position is August 1, 2020.
The position requires undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervision of undergraduate and graduate research, and the development of a research program. The successful candidate will be capable of teaching Sensation and Perception and additional courses depending on background and interest, possibly including Research Methods, Biopsychology, or Statistics.
The department and university offer extensive opportunities for research, collaboration, and external funding. The department anticipates moving into a new building with expanded laboratory facilities in 2020 that will include a large sound chamber with monitoring and control equipment as well as two to three smaller rooms with control/monitoring equipment in the same room and a separate room with an eye-tracker. Current research facilities include a well-equipped auditory localization lab configured for free field and psychophysical studies in audition; multi-channel EEG systems used to investigate additional auditory processes such as speech and hearing; a TOBII Spectrum eye-tracking system appropriate for psychophysical studies in vision; sensory labs associated with the university’s new Fermentation Sciences degree; Additional collaborative opportunities are available through the Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia, the interdisciplinary doctoral program in Literacy Studies, and the interdisciplinary doctoral program in Math and Science Education.
