Tenure-track Assistant Professor Position at the State University of New York at Old Westbury

The Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at Old Westbury invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2020.  Candidates applying for this position must have completed all doctoral degree requirements and earned their Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field by August 2020. 

The ideal candidate will have a specialization in biological/cognitive psychology or a closely related field.  An active research program that utilizes facial and emotional recognition, event related potentials (ERP), electroencephalograms (EEG), and/or electrooculograms (EOG) is desired.  Candidates must demonstrate strong potential for and a commitment to teaching and mentoring an ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse student population in a public institution.  The specific area of expertise within biological/cognitive psychology is open, although specialization in neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, perception, sensation, learning and memory, attention, emotional regulation, biological basis of mental/cognitive dysfunctions, aging, decision-making, or psycholinguistics are highly valued.  The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the core courses in the major, including foundational courses in biological and cognitive psychology and the research methods sequence.  In addition to teaching duties, the candidate will be expected to participate in service activities including, but not limited to, advising students, committee responsibilities, program assessment and curriculum development.  The Department of Psychology is strongly committed to faculty diversity, in keeping with our College's mission of social justice.
