Tenure-track Assistant Professor Opening at North Dakota State University

Position Information

The Department of Psychology at NDSU has a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor available Fall 2021 (August 16, 2021 start date). The position is 45% research, 45% teaching, and 10% service. We are especially interested in candidates who conduct research in developmental psychology and whose specific areas of research expertise intersect with departmental strengths in health psychology, social/personality psychology, cognitive psychology, or visual and cognitive neuroscience. A successful candidate will be expected to offer undergraduate courses in developmental psychology and contribute to teaching and training graduate students. A successful candidate will also have a record of research productivity and experience pursuing and/or obtaining external funding consistent with their career stage. Candidates are expected to supervise PhD students, teach 3 courses per year, and advise undergraduate students. The position is competitive with regard to start-up funds, space, and salary.

Minimum Requirements

The minimum qualifications for the position are; 1) PhD degree in Psychology or a related discipline by anticipated start date, 2) evidence of research productivity, 3) ability to teach courses in developmental psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels, 4) demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity, and 5) effective written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Priority will be given to candidates who can provide evidence of productivity on high-quality research in developmental psychology and who have excellent potential for and/or experience pursuing or obtaining external funding. Candidates with research interests that complement existing areas of research emphasis in the department (https://www.ndsu.edu/psychology/faculty/) will also receive priority.

Screening
