Assistant Professor, USC Department of Psychology, Brain and Cognitive Sciences

The Department of Psychology in the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles is seeking applications for a tenure track position with the rank of Assistant Professor within the Brain and Cognitive Sciences area.

We specifically seek candidates with a focus on the application of computational techniques to understanding cognition in the real world. The successful applicant will have a rigorous research program focusing on basic research into cognitive processes in humans (e.g., perception, language, decision-making) and how these vary with broader social, cultural, and/or environmental contexts. Examples include, but are not limited to, research using advanced statistical or machine learning to understand variability in cognitive processes at the group or individual level, or to analyze data from experimental paradigms with naturalistic stimuli.

The appointment is expected to begin in August 2022. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. and demonstrate an excellent doctoral and/or post-doctoral record that includes a strong track record of publications and potential to secure extramural funding. The department aims to foster a diverse intellectual community and strongly encourages applications from all underrepresented groups.

Applicants should submit a cover letter; current CV; representative publications; and provide three names of potential letter of referencewriters; and separate statements describing their research, teaching, and a service statement that highlights contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion. In order to be considered for this position, all candidates must apply via the "Apply" link at the top or bottom of this page.
