Position description

The Department of Psychology (psychology.ucsd.edu) within the Division of Social Sciences at UC San Diego invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Social Psychology, with a start date of July 1st, 2022.

Ideal candidates will apply state-of-the-art approaches to topics of perennial interest (e.g., emotion, cooperation, close relationships, intergroup relations, attitudes, health psychology, social cognition) or emerging interest (e.g., morality, politics, collective action, responses to climate change) within social psychology. We welcome applications from candidates whose work connects to other areas in the Department (for example, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and our burgeoning focus on computational social science).

Successful candidates are expected to establish a vigorous program of high-quality research and are required to teach graduate and undergraduate students within the Department of Psychology.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or ABD and a record of published research in social psychology or a relevant field.

• Strong social psychology background and demonstrated (or potential) impact on their area

• Demonstrated teaching excellence

• Demonstrated strong leadership or a commitment to support diversity, equity and inclusion in an academic setting
