Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Contractually Limited Term Appointment - Psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga

The Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a full- time two-year Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) in the area of Psychology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an expected start date of July 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter, and an end date of June 30, 2025.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D in Psychology or a closely related field by the time of appointment with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, a strong statement of teaching philosophy, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including sample syllabi, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, preparation and delivery of first-year Psychology laboratory content, which consists of weekly practical sessions. (Lecture and practical sessions are led by different instructors.) Duties will include the creation of assignments, tests and/or examinations, the supervision of graders, and calculating and submitting final grades. The successful candidate will also teach several laboratory sections and will train and supervise teaching assistants who cover the remaining sections. The laboratory sessions are held in a dedicated facility where students access online experimental and simulation software via individual workstations. Other responsibilities include preparing review session materials, supervising undergraduate lab assistants, general teaching lab administration, and holding regular office hours.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
