Cognitive Neuroscience Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Chicago

The Bakkour Memory and Decision Laboratory in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chicago (PI: Akram Bakkour) is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join the lab.

The Memory and Decision lab is focused on understanding the cognitive and neural mechanisms by which relational memory guides and is influenced by decision making. To conduct research, we use a combination of the tools of cognitive neuroscience; namely fMRI, eyetracking, computational modeling, and neuropsychological studies with patients that have known cognitive deficits (e.g., Amnesia, Parkinson’s Disease, Anorexia Nervosa). The postdoctoral researcher will initiate and lead new projects at the intersection of memory and decision making and contribute to ongoing projects. Some ongoing projects include the investigation of the role of constructive memory processes in the construction of value during decision making and the characterization of value construction for food during maladaptive decisions in Anorexia Nervosa.

Candidates with substantial prior experience with advanced fMRI analyses are especially desirable. Strong technical skills, including competence in several programming environments, and an interest in interdisciplinary research are also highly valued. The applicant must have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field by the time the position begins. The initial appointment is for a year, with the possibility of renewal. The targeted start date is July 1 st  2022, but is flexible.
