Position overview Anticipated start: July 1, 2023 Application Window
Open August 15th, 2022 through Friday, Oct 14, 2022 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time)
Position description
The Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks to fill a tenured/tenure-track open rank position (assistant, associate, or full professor) in the area of human cognitive science.
Research interests may include but are not limited to memory, learning, reasoning, problem solving, perception, social cognition, decision-making, language, music, comparative cognition, and individual differences in cognition, including dysfunction. Strong preference will be given to applicants who work on computational models of cognitive mechanisms using advanced statistical analyses of behavioral or physiological data. The department is particularly interested in research programs that make bridges to other areas within the Psychology Department as well as to other disciplines within cognitive science.
Prospective applicants should note that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are core values within the Department of Psychology and across UC Berkeley. Because our excellence can be fully realized only by faculty, students, and staff who share our commitment to these values, applicants are asked to provide a statement detailing their commitment to diversity —including their awareness of and understanding of issues surrounding diversity, their track record of engagement and activity in promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in their teaching, research and service, and their specific, concrete goals and plans for advancing these issues as a potential faculty member at Berkeley. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in this area. More information about the diversity statement and how candidates will be evaluated can be found here: https://ofew.berkeley.edu/recruitment/contributions-deib/support-faculty-candidates.
Specific information about the Psychology Department's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is provided in our Vision Statement, which can be found here: https://psychology.berkeley.edu/diversity/ucb-psychology-diversity-vision-statement
Additional information about programs and resources supporting the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is available at:

The department is committed to addressing the family needs of faculty, including dual career couples and single parents. For information about potential relocation to Berkeley, or career needs of accompanying partners and spouses, please visit: http://ofew.berkeley.edu/new-faculty.
Considering the significant disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly for disadvantaged groups, in our evaluation of applicants, dips in productivity in otherwise strong records occurring with the onset of the pandemic will be evaluated with the context of the pandemic in mind.
