Two Assistant Professor Positions, Diversity Science in Psychology at Towson University

2 tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor positions in Psychology with specialization in Diversity Science beginning August 2024. We seek candidates who will increase the department’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through their research, teaching, mentoring and/or lived experience. The search is open to candidates in any area of psychology. Candidates must hold a doctorate in Psychology or related field. ABD candidates must complete all degree requirements prior to completion of the first academic year. Applicants must possess and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds, research on diversity, equity, and social justice in psychology, and service. The successful applicant will teach new and existing undergraduate and, possibly, graduate courses, including some combination of sociocultural awareness classes (e.g., the psychology of gender, psychology of the Black experience, or cross-cultural psychology), classes in the applicant’s area of expertise. We encourage applications from candidates who have the ability to teach courses related to research methods or biopsychology/neuropsychology. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with diverse populations and to create an inclusive learning environment that is attuned to the educational needs of all students. Evidence of effective teaching experience in a college or university setting with students from diverse backgrounds is highly desirable. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate research competency as well as evidence that they will continue to grow their research agenda, leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals and the potential to secure external funding. Areas of research interest are open, but we encourage applications from candidates with expertise in the social justice approach to diversity science in psychology. The ability to mentor students interested in diversity and equity topics in psychology is required.
