Brandeis University Florence Levy Kay Postdoctoral Fellowship in Artificial Intelligence and Society

Brandeis University invites applications for the Florence Levy Kay Postdoctoral Fellowship in Artificial Intelligence and Society, with the rank of Lecturer for 2026-2028. The Florence Levy Kay Fellowships are designed to support early-career scholars whose work crosses disciplinary boundaries and addresses timely social issues. This position offers the rare opportunity to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries; we seek a candidate whose research interests span the Computer Science, Psychology, and Sociology Departments, in addition to the Computational Linguistics program. The candidate should have methodological expertise that spans computational methods (e.g. machine learning, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, programming familiarity with Python, social network analysis using tools such as R), and be able to connect with social science questions and methods. The ideal candidate will conduct research at the intersection of these fields, investigating the cognitive, sociocultural, computational, and linguistic dimensions of AI and human-like intelligence; applying AI to probe human thought processes (perception, learning, decision-making) in context; examining fairness, implicit bias, and cultural influences in AI systems; and analyzing how AI technologies interact with, and transform, social institutions, norms, and practices. The successful candidate will teach courses in the area of specialization—one each semester, for a total of two courses per year. We expect the candidate to have received the PhD by August 2026 and to demonstrate excellence as a scholar and teacher. The fellowship includes a salary of $62,500 plus benefits, a research fund of $4,000 per year and the potential to negotiate for some relocation expenses. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, research statement, teaching statement, copies of up to three relevant publications, and the names of three referees to Academic Jobs Online: https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/30223. The cover letter should address how the candidate’s experiences or expertise could promote Brandeis’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. First consideration will be given to applications received by October 1, although we will accept applications until the position is filled. Questions can be directed to KayFellowSearch@brandeis.edu. This position is subject to budget approval.
