Post Doctoral Fellow - Psychology at Clemson University

The Institute for Engaged Aging at Clemson University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to assist Dr. Mogle on a NIA-funded grant examining the precursors to modifiable risk factors of Alzheimer’s disease. The Postdoctoral Scholar will work on data analyses examining the characteristics of different types of daily memory problems and determine which characteristics are the best predictors of future cognitive decline.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will contribute to scholarly pursuits within the Department of Psychology, the College of Behavioral, Social, and Health Sciences, and develop an independent research program related to promoting the health and well-being of older adults. The scholar will assist with: project management, coordinating communications across the research team regarding project-related tasks, maintaining internal analytic procedures and quality control, data management, data analysis (including multilevel modeling) and interpretation, manuscript development and preparation, preparing and delivering scientific presentations for regional, national, and international conferences, and working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team across universities (e.g., Penn State, University of Hawaii at Hilo, University of Essex).

The scholar will also engage in their own research enterprise examining daily experiences of memory and cognition using a rich set of available secondary longitudinal and daily diary data (e.g., https://www.einsteinmed.edu/departments/neurology/clinical-research-program/eas/).

The preferred start date for the position is August 2022, but a later start date is possible. The postdoctoral fellowship is for one year, with the possibility of a second renewal pending funding.

Qualifications

Strong candidates will have a PhD in psychology, nursing, cognitive aging, or a related field with an area of expertise within aging science that matches or complements the proposed project. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as contribute to a lab (https://remindlab.psu.edu/) consisting of undergraduate and graduate students as well as other postdoctoral researchers and faculty.

Statistical skills such as regression and ANOVA are required as well as proficiency in statistical software (SPSS, SAS, Mplus) and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Other requirements include excellent communication, writing, time management, and organizational skills.

Competitive candidates will have demonstrated success with scholarly writing including peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals.
